I believe we’ve all seen how Duracell demonstrate how long its batteries last in advertisements with their bunny performing energy hungry tasks. Panasonic have decided the best advertisement is a real world test using a robot on a little three-wheel bike.

Evolta robot, which is powered by Panasonic’s Evolta batteries, claimed to be the world’s longest-lasting AA alkaline battery cells. The Evolta robot will challenge to cycle the racing course of the 24 hours of Le Mans in France. With that, Panasonic is attempting to set a new world record and in the process prove just how good its Evolta AA batteries really are.

The “Evolta racing robot” is fitted with two Evolta AA batteries and is capable of hitting speeds of up to 1.3km/h. The world record attempt will see the robot guided around the Le Mans racing circuit by an infra-red beam emitted from the back of a car. The aim is to keep circling the track for 24hrs just like in the real race and in so doing setting a record for the longest distance travelled by a remote-controlled robot. The real test is for the batteries, however, with the question being will they last the full 24hrs?

Although this is obviously a challenge just to get publicity it does show that Panasonic is very confident about the lead they have over other battery manufacturers in this battery class. Holding a world record allows a lot of marketing opportunities and this is just the latest. I bet there are a few more planned to keep Evolta in the headlines.

Because of its amazing history and breathtaking scenery, Austria has always been a popular travel destination. And whether travelers experience the serenity of a Danube River cruise or the magic of Mozart’s Salzburg, they will certainly want to take something home with them to commemorate the trip. But, it has become more and more difficult for tourists to find unique souvenirs as things coming from one country are sometimes just as easily available in other countries as well. Hunting for true souvenirs has become challenging even in Austria, which is far more conservative than many of its European neighbors in its attempts to resist globalization. Austria is famous all over the world for Swarovski crystal and, while Austrian crystal is not a trademark in and of itself, the term is indelibly linked with Swarovski which is produced in a factory in Wattens, Austria. Last, in most Austrian cities, there are shops that offer many of the more traditional Austrian souvenir items like gloves, socks and vests of loden wool. These hand-made items make perfect and practical souvenirs that represent the local culture. Whether crystal or chocolate, Mozart or Klimt, the souvenirs from a trip to Austria are sure to evoke the memories of that amazing country long after the traveler has returned home.

The art of ‘Blue River – Water is Life’ has been made by a Dutch artist named Henk Hofstra in Drachten, Holland. The arts have been expressed and produced creatively on one kilometer or 1000 meters road. In the midst of blue color is also painted the words “Water is Life” with height 8 meter. Blue is a symbolic way to show the history of the Drachten which is in the past covered with water ways. This is not just a gift to the environment, but also an inspiration to the people of the city Drachten.

Apart from road painted in blue, some other creative works of art designs such as the sunken car also made and exhibited. This project has been using 4000 liters of paint and has a cost of Eu75000. Half of this cost was borne by the district council.

A citizen from Britain, Paul Mason who settled in Ipswich has been awarded as the world’s fattest and heaviest man recently. Weighing 444.5 kg (981 pounds), Mason should be proud that his name is now recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. This aspiration was exposed three years ago after 127 pounds of weight loss after undergoing some treatment at a hospital three years ago. Mason, who is now 48-year-old said he was upset during that time due to he actually wanted the opposite effect. When returning home, he was feeling sad because he was no longer to be the fattest man of the world.

“When arriving home, Mason instantly ordered a pizza, curry and also variety of food from China. He also frequently had been seen in McDonald’s ordering food by using his trademark wheel chair.

“No one can stop the Masons from continually eating and or else, he will be feeling very sad,” an anonymous hospital sources said.

In an effort to fulfill the his dream, Mason had eaten a box of Sugar Puffs at one time and every Friday he will be going to the restaurant during the day and night. Nacton Road Fish Bar Manager in Ipswich, Suffolk, Bob Singh Phagura, said Mason will be waiting at the wheels on the chair outside the store while waiting for her maid finished ordering the food.

“He could not come in because of his body is too large. Mason will buy 10 times more food than any of his customers. He will buy four cods, two pies, four sausages and large chips with curry and peanuts ketchups and swallowed them all with two large water bottles of Coca Cola, “he said.

Essentially, Mason will eat 20.000 food calories a day, eight times double than an average of 2.500 calories food eaten by an ordinary man. He ate three family meals every night and for him a roast chicken is just a dessert. Meanwhile, ex-world’s fattest, Manuel Uribe, 43, was dropping his title because he wanted to lower half of his weight, 571.5 kg for a marriage years ago. In 2004, United States’ fattest guy, Patrick Deuel weighed 489 kg and United Kingdom’s citizen, Barry Austin from Birmingham is only weighed 413 kg. Mason now lives in the special bungalow house exclusively for obese people and lay on top of the bed all the time.
